How it all began…
Teach Equip began at Stonegate Church in Midlothian, TX.
Listen to Stonegate’s Lead Pastor and Teaching & Worship pastor along side Lindsay and Kelly (Teach Equip’s founders) as they share how this program came to be and why complementarian churches need to train their women to teach.
This was a workshop held at the National Acts 29 Conference in Dallas, TX in April 2024.
Our Team
Lindsay Schott
Lindsay felt called to teach the Scriptures from a young age and longed for a shot at public ministry. But for 15 years, God closed every door. During that time, Lindsay’s ideas about success and influence were tested and refined and today she is passionate about empowering women to serve faithfully right where they are. Lindsay’s strengths are powerful delivery, blending prophetic passion with snarky humor, all while making theological depth attractive and accessible. She will help your church identify potential teachers and coach you through the development and operation of a program to equip women.
Lindsay on staff at Stonegate Church as the Women’s Ministry Teacher. She has been faithfully teaching and writing for over 5 years all while training other women to teach. She is married to Landon and they live in the DFW area with their 4 children.
Kelly Needham
Kelly reluctantly took up public ministry in writing and teaching and learned everything the hard way – trial and error. Today, she’s embraced the opportunities God has given her and is passionate about mobilizing women in their local church, sharing everything she’s learned along the way. Kelly’s strengths are Biblical loyalty, organizing ideas and knowing she isn’t funny so she doesn’t try to be. She can help you find your unique voice while being loyal to Biblical truth. She will help your church find creative, specific solutions for equipping women and will brainstorm until there’s a path forward.
Kelly is the author of Purposefooled and Friend-ish. She has been teaching and writing publicly for over 10 years. She is married to Jimmy and they live in the DFW area with their 5 children.
Our Distinctives
Faithfulness > Followers
The goal is faithful stewardship, not a growing platform.
Church > Celebrity
The gift of teaching primarily exists to strengthen the local church.
Exposition > Charisma
The church needs excellent Bible teachers more than great public speakers.
Partnership > Division
Being complementarian should foster partnership between men and women teachers, while preserving their distinctiveness.
Community > Isolation
Teaching the Bible requires a life of confession and repentance with other people.
Our History
Over 15 years ago Kelly and Lindsay built a friendship around the common love of the Bible and theology. Then, Jesus led them both down very different paths. Lindsay spend years in hiddenness though she had a deep desire to teach the Bible publicly and Kelly spent years in the public eye though she had a deep desire to stay hidden. They encouraged one another to follow Jesus, even when it was hard. You can learn more of their story here.
In 2018, they were invited to participate in a teaching cohort in their church and it was an instant game changer. After their experience, they launched a pilot program for women that included 6 participants teaching the Bible, then receiving group feedback. The result was 6 women confident in handling the scripture who could teach in a clear and compelling way.
Over time, Teach Equip evolved and took on a more formal class structure so participants could learn how to study the scriptures, how to write messages and apply them to audiences. Students learned to navigate the unique treasures and temptations teaching brings while practicing their craft with personalized coaching.
Today, Teach Equip offers classes that shepherd the heart of a teacher, give women a strong hermeneutic of the scripture and tools for the practical “how” of communicating.
