Peer-Led Model
All students learn and practice at the same pace with one another's help and feedback. Students lean on each other and reach out to their pastors, ministry leaders and Teach Equip leadership when they need guidance. They share the responsibilities of facilitating class time, reviewing homework, workshopping messages, and hosting and giving feedback in labs.
Teach Equip started with this model. It is effective and efficient. This model is helpful in churches that don’t have experienced teachers available to lead the program, but who have many students eager to learn and grow. It requires that students trust one another and walk in humility as they give and receive each other's feedback.
We recommend at least one pastor or ministry leader be “on call” for the students as they are growing together and may need help theologically along the way.
-
Teach Equip extensive notes for class time including discussion questions, group exercises and announcements for the coming month. We recommend you designate 1-2 people to facilitate class time using the leader guide.
-
Students can review and give feedback on each other’s homework. This can be done any number of ways: in groups of 2 or 3 where students trade homework. Homework can be posted publicly in a Google folder for all students to review. 1-2 people can be designated reviewers. The goal is everyone’s work should get reviewed at least once.
-
We provide a lab guide and training at the beginning of the program that all students would attend. We recommend 1 person be the lab coach–getting the room set up, printing feedback forms, etc. Everyone fills out feedback forms for each other and 1-2 students will give verbal feedback in the lab. All feedback forms will be given to the lab coach for review and then can be given to the fellow participant. Our feedback forms are detailed and designed to help you identify areas of strength in a teacher and areas of growth.
-
The group can ask for help from pastors or ministry leaders at their church as needed. Students can also email the Teach Equip team or join Lindsay and Kelly’s office hours which happen monthly and are available to everyone.
Every Teach Equip student will have access to our public slack channels including one dedicated to Message Help where all TE students help one another in the development of their messages.

…at least one pastor or ministry leader be “on call” for the students as they are growing together and may need help theologically along the way. Every church has its own doctrinal positions and we want developing Bible students to practice submitting to and partnering with their local pastors as they learn to teach the Bible. Find a way to keep church leadership connected with the Teach Equip students, even if they aren’t at every class and lab.
